Unit 4 I used to be afraid of the dark.

Section A  1a-2d

 一、教学目标:

 1. 语言知识目标:

1) 能掌握以下单词: humorous, silent, helpful, from time to time, score 能掌握以下句型: ① Paula used to be really quiet. ② —Did Mario use to be short? —Yes, he did. ③ —What’s he like now? —He’s tall now.

 2) 能够用英语描述自己或他人过去常常做的事情;发现自己或他人在外表、性格、兴趣等方面所发生的变化。

3) 明白事物是在不断发展、变化的道理,培养积极向上的心态。

 二、教学重难点

1. 教学重点:

1) 掌握本课时中出现的生词humorous, silent, helpful, from time to time, score

2) 学会描述自己或他人过去常常做的事情基本句型: I used to…

3) 发现自己或他人在外表、性格、兴趣等方面所发生的变化。

2. 教学难点: used to do/be , He used to be short,didn’t he?句型

三、教学过程

Ⅰ. Learning objectives

1. To learn the words and expressions to describe the appearance and personality of people tall, short, outgoing, handsome, funny, humorous…

2. To listen and learn to talk about how people have changed using used to+verb Mario used to be really short. He used to wear glasses. Paula used to be really quiet.

Ⅱ. Warming up

 Look at the pictures and describe people. What does he/she look like?(short hair, curly hair, thin, heavy…) What is she like ? 通过图片对比人物前后变化,引出used to用法。

 Ⅲ. Words presentation

1. Look at the chart in 1a, then discuss with your group mates. Try to fill in the chart with words to describe people. Appearance :tall straight hair …Personality: outgoing funny …

2. Let some Ss say their answers. Let other Ss add more. Appearance: tall, straight hair, short, of medium height, straight/curly hair, long/short hair, heavy, thin, of medium built … Personality: outgoing, shy, funny, serious, cute, quiet, kind, brave, friendly, active

3. Lear the new words: humorous, silent, helpful, from time to time, score

Ⅳ. Listening

1. Work on 1b. T: Bob hasn’t seen some of his friends for four years. Now he’s seeing his friends. What did his friends use to look like? Listen and fill in the blanks.

V. Work in pairs

  1C Look at the pictures in 1a and make conversations.

VI. Listening

2a.Listen and check the words you hear.

Listen and check their answers. Note :be helpful to sb,take an active part in,

2b.Listen again and complete the chart about how Paula has changed.

Ask some students to say their answers.Study: get good grades in sth,be interested in,be on a... team

VII.Conversation

  2d.Role-play the conversation. Read the conversation and answer the questions.

1. What does Alfred think of the party ?

2. What did Billy use to be like ?

Students work in pairs and fill in the balanks.

教学反思

本节课主要讲了used to的用法,指过去常常做某事。整节课,我首先采用图片导入,用学生熟悉的明星人物的过去的照片,通过现在与过去的对比,让他们谈论一个人的前后变化。并引出used to的用法。接下来的环节是谈谈我最熟悉的人。可以是老师,同学,父母,明星等。谈谈他们以前和现在的变化。然后选出本组变化最大的人物。

本课堂我采用了“任务型教学”。其中任务的设计具有真实性,贴近学生的生活实际,带有浓厚的生活气息,激发了学生参与的兴趣,把学生的中枢神经调整到了兴奋状态,通过感知、体验、实践和合作等方式,完成了本节课的知识目标,充分体现了“在用中学,在学中用”的教学理念。 在这节课的“任务型教学”过程中,学生的参与热情非常高,因为整节课的设计比较贴近生活,所以整堂课的气氛十分活跃,学生们参与表现的积极性非常高,但是个别学生还是对 used to 不能理解,不会表达。

我觉得在今后的教学中,要提高自己的组织能力和课堂管理调控能力。而且在实施任务型教学时,要注意培养学生学会宽容、倾听、沟通。通过身边的例子编对话,句型转换等方式转换巩固,达到真正掌握知识的目的。但是有一部分学生对used to do sth 的动词还是掌握不好,在课堂中对后进生的关注不够,应给予他们更多的机会练习。使他们能对英语有更多的兴趣,不要放弃英语的学习。
